The Wound Center Nurse Practitioner practices under the clinical supervision of the panel physicians, demonstrates competency and efficiency in the care of patient with wounds and those undergoing hyperbaric oxygen treatments.  This person works in the outpatient setting.  The Wound Center Nurse Practitioner demonstrates a strong ability to organize and prioritize patient care activities, selects and interprets laboratory and diagnostic testing, and communicates medical assessment and plan to patient, caregiver, and staff.

Special Criteria Details

This position will be required to also consult on inpatients as needed. Also, the training requires attendance to their corporate training center in Florida.


  1. Evaluate and treat new and follow-up patients.  Perform debridments and application of compression and offloading therapies.
  2. Evaluates patients to formulate a clinical impression/diagnosis/treatment plan, based upon the following parameters:
  • Medical history
  • Physical examination
  • Laboratory and x-ray data
  • Other
  1. Collaborates with supervising physician as clinically appropriate.
  2. Provide appropriate information to patients, families, and staff as necessary for implementing the plan of care.
  3. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, registered dieticians, and others as needed and appropriate.
  4. Maintains and completes medical records in a timely fastion.
  5. Participate in requested committees for department/hospital.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of the Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners in New York State: CVPH Medical Staff bylaws; departmental policies, procedures, and Standards of Medical Practice.
  7. Determine needs for consultations from other subspecialties.
  8. Regularly attend panel physician meetings.
  9. Provides hyperbaric oxygen treatment oversight.
  10. Other duties as assigned.


  1. Licensed as a NYS Nurse Practitioner.
  2. ACLS required.
  3. Prescription privileges required.
  4. Successful completion of Healogic Introduction to Hyperbaric Medicine and Problem Wound Management Course with receipt of certificate prior to Wound Center clinic work assignment.


As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
