The Administrator of Hospital Based Services collaborates with physician leadership to oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital based practices while assuring excellent customer service to internal and external customers. This includes Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, and Hospitalist practices. (S)he collaborates with physician leadership and hospital leadership to manage daily operations including the development of policies and procedures, strategic planning, and identification of practice goals. (S)he effectively plans and directs practice operations to achieve identified goals including expense control, revenue enhancement opportunity exploration, enhanced patient flow processes, and coordination across departments.


  1. Collaborates with physician leadership and hospital leadership to assess, design, implement and monitor operational processes and systems.
  2. Collaborates with physician leadership to assess, design, implement and monitor patient flow systems to achieve maximum efficiency. Demonstrates understanding of provider schedules to optimize service availability.
  3. Regularly meet individually and as a group with the physicians, Advanced Practice Professionals, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists for information sharing, problem solving and operational improvements.
  4. Maintain physician and Advanced Practice Professional schedules including call schedules.
  5. Ensures appropriate processes are in place necessary to support and promote patient, provider, staff, and customer satisfaction. React in a timely manner to resolve patient and/or employee complaints.
  6. Works to ensure that assigned areas achieve financial objectives including the identification of goals, development of budgets, creation of business plans, and monitors reports. Proposes action plans to physician leadership and hospital leadership.
  7. Oversight of revenue cycle policies and procedures such as charge capture, clinical documentation, and payor credentialing. In addition, monitor and approve non-salary expenses for the hospital based services.
  8. Maintain open communication with CVPH and UVM Health Network departments, referring physicians, staff physicians and office employees.
  9. Participates in recruitment of providers. Assists in the coordination of provider onboarding, medical staff privileges process, and payor credentialing process.
  10. Develops and implements policies and procedures for assigned departments.


  1. Bachelors’ Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or other relevant field with minimum 3-5 years leadership experience. 
  2. Masters’ Degree with minimum 3 years leadership experience.
  3. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in medical practice management required.
