Overview

The Environmental Service Worker cleans and services patient, public, clinical and administrative areas maintaining an attractive appearance in all areas.  Moves furniture, equipment and supplies in and around the Medical Center.  Performs a variety of Environmental Services duties to maintain the Medical Center in a safe, orderly and sanitary condition.

Responsibilities

  1. Assists in providing an environment where cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control sets the standard in the Northeast Region of New York State.
  2. Contributes to promoting a HEALING environment utilizing basic departmental and infection control standards
  3. Completes tasks associated with patient care areas according to departmental and infection control standards.
  4. Provides Medical Center waste management and recycling
  5. Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in all support, public and office areas.
  6. Identifies additional cleaning needed and sets priorities according to departmental procedures.
  7. Demonstrates the ability to safely maintain and utilize all tools required to accomplish daily assignments.
  8. Maintains skills required to safely accomplish floor, carpet and furniture care.
  9. Participates in special projects and tasks associated with construction, or moving of hospital functions and equipment.
  10. Supports the overall Mission of CVPH by supporting additional functions/needs or tasks that arise through physical or technical growth.
  11. Performs Bed tracking duties as required.
  12. Maintains/assists where applicable entrances exterior with snow removal and salting/sanding.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. An ability to read and write well is required.
  2. An ability to do basic math to understand the mixing of chemicals is necessary.
  3. A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. 
  4. Related experience in cleaning and healthcare is desirable.

 

As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
