Overview

Provides problem resolution, analysis, specifications and configurations, coordination, testing, maintenance, and installation of computer/mobile device based software and hardware, peripherals (such as printers, scanners, microphones) and other related equipment (such as UPS, projectors, carts).  Provides informal training of computer/mobile device users.  Provides support in the maintenance of asset control and adherence to departmental/system policy directives and maintains the highest level of data security.  Provides technical training and knowledge transfer to department personnel/colleagues.

Responsibilities

  1. Configures and installs personal computers/mobile devices, peripherals, such as printers, scanners, label printers and uninterruptible power supplies and personal computer applications within the Medical Center.
  2. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems for personal computers/mobile devices, peripherals, such as printers, scanners, label printers and uninterruptible power supplies and personal computer applications within the Medical Center.
  3. Repairs personal computers/mobile devices, peripherals, such as printers, scanners, label printers and uninterruptible power supplies and personal computer applications within the Medical Center.
  4. Performs preventive maintenance and upgrades of computer/mobile device based software and hardware, peripherals and other related equipment.
  5. Documents procedures for the configuration and installation of computer/mobile device based software and hardware, peripherals and other related equipment.
  6. Documents and updates Helpdesk ticket database as directed.
  7. Communicates with customer throughout service request and with management for all service or project related changes which may impact customer (internal or external).
  8. Provides informal training of computer/mobile devices to end users and technical training and knowledge transfer to departmental personnel.
  9. Asset tags and places into inventory computer/mobile device based software and hardware, peripherals and other related equipment as directed.
  10. Performs cyclic inventories as directed.
  11. Maintains working inventory of parts and equipment needed for service and repair.
  12. Provides advice and researches information regarding technology, supply chains, vendors, service options, etc. as requested.
  13. Acts as liaison with outside vendor to coordinate repairs and services as required.
  14. Recommends retirement of obsolete or non-cost effective equipment as appropriate.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Associates degree in computer science or experience setting up computer workstations with all applicable software drivers, applications, and network client modules as typically acquired in 3 to 5 years.
  2. A+ or MCSDT Certifications preferred.
  3. Working knowledge of Active Directory, associated file systems and current operating systems and networking standards.
  4. Excellent technical knowledge of computer/mobile device based software, hardware, and peripherals.
  5. Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
  6. Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
  7. Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  9. Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  10. Self motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
