  • Overview

    The Practice Supervisor works under the supervision of the Director of Practice Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations of the medical practice while assuring excellent customer service to internal and external customers. (S)he effectively plans and directs practice operations to achieve expense control and maximize productivity of staff, physicians and Advanced Practice Professionals. Regularly uses independent judgment to interpret and apply policies, procedures and practices. Judgments have a broad financial impact on the organization.


    1. Oversight and adherence to CVPH Medical Group policies and procedures in such areas as scheduling, registration, and charge capture to maximize revenue and minimize expenses
    2. Ensure adherence to all laws and regulations related to employment, affirmative action, safety, infection control, drugs, medical waste disposal, HIPAA, CLIA and other federal, state and local regulations and CVPH compliance policies and procedures and promptly report actual or potential wrongdoing
    3. Oversees; supply inventory, ordering of medical and office supplies, cleaning and maintenance of facility.
    4. Maintain open communication with CVPH and UVM Health Network departments, referring physicians, staff physicians and office employees.
    5. React in a timely manner to resolve patient and/or employee complaints
    6. Plan and assign work schedules to optimize patient satisfaction and efficient workflows, establishing priorities, evaluating effectiveness and modifying as needed
    7. Support of HR processes including but not limited to; Review and approve time sheets, evaluate staff performance; provide coaching and corrective action as necessary, conduct Performance Evaluations annually
    8. Conduct staff meetings on regular basis for information sharing, problem solving and operational improvement
    9. Regularly meet individually and as a group with the physicians and Advanced Practice Professionals for information sharing, problem solving and operational improvements.
    10. Maintain physician and Advanced Practice Professional schedules including call schedules
    11. Responsible for cash drawer and payments received in the office. Ensure timely charge capture for all billable services. Ensure staff adheres to all CVPH financial policies and procedures and coordinate office processes related to billing with the Revenue Cycle Supervisor.
    12. Monitor and approve non-salary expenses for the clinical site• Participate in annual development of operating budget• Monitor monthly financial performance through review of financial statements, payroll system, and other financial data.


    1. Bachelors’ Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or other relevant field with minimum 3 years leadership experience. or Associates Degree with minimum 5 years leadership experience required.

    2. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in medical practice management required.
