  • Overview

    The RN Recruiter designs, develops, and implements nurse recruitment initiatives which impact the entire organization.  This role includes planning around internal and external marketing, the candidate recruitment process, retention and career counseling. He/She works in collaboration with the overall recruitment and Human Resource teams and provides active recruitment.  He/She builds strong relationships with key stakeholders to proactively meet the needs.  Recruitment activities include screening, interviewing, reference verifications, education and license verification, legal compliance, and hiring recommendations.  Other responsibilities include public speaking, participating in/sponsoring job fairs, participation in new employee orientation and employee retention. 


    1. Maintains solid relationship with Department Hiring Managers to determine ongoing staffing needs.

    2. Participates in job fairs, career days, campus recruitment efforts, careers days and long-term recruitment efforts such as school outreach and job shadowing.

    3. Creates advertisements and advertising strategy, assuring timely and cost-effective placement.

    4. Conducts prescreen interviews, reference checks, reviews all pre-employment requirements including verification of transcripts, licenses, registrations, immigration status, etc. Extend offers to selected candidates.

    5. Complies with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other state/federal guidelines.

    6. Plans, coordinates and presents at recruitment events both internally and externally, including college visits to Schools of Nursing.

    7. Maintains effective relationships with social and professional networks to source qualified candidates.

    8. Builds a pipeline of candidates for nursing positions. Develop strategies for the recruitment of positions, and implements in order to anticipate expected openings

    9. Works with hospital departments on retention efforts.

    10. Attends meetings and participates on committees as requested.

    11. Performs other duties as assigned.


    1. Recruitment experience required.  RN recruitment experience preferred.

    2. Registered Nurse required. New York State License preferred.

    3. Minimum three years nursing experience required.

    4. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

    5. Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulation preferred.

    6. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are required.

    7. Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet required. Proficiency in Human Capital and recruitment Systems preferred.
