  • Overview

    Responsible for maintaining files in Radiology. Files Radiology reports. Pulls files for physicians and patients, checks reports as needed. If assigned to clinical area (i.e. CT, MRI, etc.), will be responsible for appropriate duties associated with the assignment.


    1. Prints CD’s/Films according to established procedure.
    2. Prepares and signs out images/studies according to established procedure.
    3. Releases patient information appropriately, according to established guidelines and privacy/HIPPA rules.
    4. Sorts and distributes batched Radiology reports according to established procedure.
    5. Picks up and delivers incoming mail; takes outgoing mail to mailroom.
    6. Answers phones politely and promptly while striving to maintain confidentiality.
    7. Enters patient information into Radiology Information System (RIS) as required (scanned forms, orders, worksheets, lab results, etc.)
    8. Enters orders into RIS, according to signed MD orders (using correct account number).
    9. Upgrades advance-registered patients, obtains signatures for Release of Information form and copy of current insurance cards.
    10. When trained, will perform registration functions accurately and in a timely manner.
    11. If trained, schedules outpatient Radiology test in the computer, according to the established procedure.
    12. If assigned to satellite area (i.e.: Valcour, Consumer Square Open MRI, etc.) will follow established site-specific procedures/security.
    13. Other duties as assigned.


    1. High school graduate or equivalent.
    2. Good communication and organization skills required.
    3. Ability to operate a personal computer and/or CRT required.
    4. Good data entry skills required; 35 wpm typing preferred.
    5. Prior clerical training, knowledge and/or experience preferably in a health care setting required.
    6. Ability to make appropriate decisions with a moderate amount of supervisory direction required.
    7. Performs receptionist duties, acting as a radiology liaison with patients and families; directs patients to specific subsections of Radiology.
    8. Responsible for scheduling outpatient exams.

    As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
