Electrician

This position requires attention to detail with respect to all electrical distribution systems, electronic equipment, and other electric appliances. The individual must perform daily maintenance on all assigned equipment as necessary and complete specific p.m.'s on same.  This person is required to be on call as scheduled for the plant operations section and must also perform other duties as assigned.

Typical work days/hours are Monday through Friday 0700-1530, however based on equipment availability, days/hours will occasionally be variable.

1. Maintenance, repair, installation & testing of electric & electronic controllers.
2. Installation, repair & adjustment of components related to the Facility Energy Management System. Works with and understands programs tied to this system.
3. Maintenance and repair of all electrical distribution systems as assigned. Maintenance and testing of emergency generators.
4. Installations of new sub-panels and branch circuits as assigned.
5. Performs electrical installations to feed new equipment, troubleshoots electrical problems on all existing equipment as assigned.
6. Repair of existing and installation of new fire alarm circuits; test fire alarm system as required.
7. Installation of new electrical components and repairs existing items to include but not limited to:
   • Variable frequency motor drives.
   • Kitchen appliances (washers, dryers, electrical dishwashers, stoves, mixers, etc.)
   • Indoor/outdoor lighting and power.
   • Time and date stampers/clocks.
   • Emergency Generators.
   • Electric heating and controls.
   • Electric motors and associated equipment
8. Possesses awareness of complex infrastructure controls related to the trade.
9. Maintenance and repair of Pneumatic Tube System.
10. Other duties as assigned.

1. Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and written manufacturers reference materials.
2. Must possess valid New York State driver's license and be insurable.
3. Previous experience operating a variety of test equipment to include multimeters, chart recorders, current probes, megohm meter, etc.
4. Previous experiences modifying/correcting electrical and electronic circuitry in building wiring and machine controls.
5. Ability to plan projects, order materials, complete installations efficiently.
6. Ability to write and communicate well with supervisors, tradesmen, and hospital staff.
7. Must possess a high school diploma and vocational training in the electrical trades.
8. Preferred 3-5 years experience as a journeyman electrician.
9. Previous experience performing all work conforming to electrical codes (national and local) and OSHA.
10. Ability to portray the professionalism associated with the position, work independently with minimal supervision and strive for continuous quality improvement.
11. NYS certified O&M training for asbestos or certification obtained within 12 months.
