LPN

The LPN works under the general supervision of the Practice Supervisor, an Ambulatory RN or other licensed provider to deliver excellent patient care completing the duties and responsibilities of the position while complying with the HIPAA and CVPH confidentiality policies. They are responsible to manage patient flow while supporting physician (s) to ensure efficient use of their time and minimize patient wait time. They are responsible to perform operational and quality/risk management duties according to regulations and protocols. The position requires regular use of independent judgment to interpret and apply policies, procedures and practices.

Manage patient flow including but not limited to:

• Prepare exam rooms for patient visits
• Place patients in exam rooms
• Conduct patient intake
• Determine reason for visit
• Obtain health history
• Document medications and medication changes
• Identify and conduct appropriate intervention for suspected domestic violence and adult abuse
• Review care plan with patient and reinforce education and necessary follow-up

2. Support In- Office Procedures including but not limited to:

• Set up and cleaning of procedure room and sterile field
• Assist physician(s) with procedures as needed
• Prepare and deliver specimen for lab evaluation.
• Maintain proper care & handling of instruments and equipment.

3. Assist with patient calls to include:

• Gather patient information to aid in decision making
• Communicate patient concerns to RN or other licensed provider
• Prescription refills and third party authorizations
• Returning patient calls as needed

4. Documentation of nursing care provided according to identified standards of practice.

5. Maintain medical supplies to ensure efficient patient flow with cost containment in mind

6. Establish and /or maintain a safe work environment according to OSHA, federal and New York State guidelines.

7. Monitor emergency equipment as relevant to the practice.

8. Maintain infection control practices for medical equipment including cleaning and maintenance of equipment.

9. Controls and protects medical practice assets and resources.

10. Maintain skill competency.

11. Demonstrate commitment to continuing education.

12. Other duties as assigned, including accompanying physician(s) on rounds to facilitate continuity of care and back-up to front desk as needed.

1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
2. Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
3. Understanding and commitment to CVPH core values of teamwork, commitment, confidentiality and quality care.
4. Excellent attention to detail.
5. Good written and verbal communication skills.
6. Above average spelling and memory skills.
7. Working knowledge of medical terminology and medications.
8. Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, providers, patients and external customers.
9. Knowledge of medical practice management and/or electronic medical records systems preferred.
10. Utilize available business technology to perform assigned duties.
11. Above average organizational skills.
12. Ability to make appropriate decisions with a minimum amount of supervisory direction.
13. Previous obstetrical nursing experience required.
14. Previous OB/GYN office experience required.
15. Previous experience in urodynamics required.
