The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for the management and delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care of patients undergoing a surgical procedure. The OR Registered Nurse directs and guides the delivery of patient care, patient education, and all care related activities, while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Exceptional skills and knowlege to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene and evaluate the outcomes of interventions. He/She is familiar with all instruments, supplies, and equipment used during specific surgical procedures. The Operating Room Registered Nurse addresses the physiological, psychological, socio cultural and spiritual responses of surgical patients.
The Perioperative Services Float RN will become competent in two of the three areas of Perioperative Services: Operating Room Circulating Nurse, Pre/Post Nurse, or Endoscopy Nurse.
The main position will be the one located on the nurse’s P5 and the nurse will only be scheduled call in the main position area (e.g. Perioperative Services Float – Pre/PACU will only be scheduld Pre/PACU call).
The Periop Services Float RN will become completely oriented to their main position and will also learn basic skills of one of the other areas of Periop. The skill set of each additional area will follow the position specific contributions. All nurses of Periop Services will be competent in the basic skills of one other area within six (6) months of completion of the main area of orientation.
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for managing and coordination care for the post-procedural extended recovery, and/or the observational care patient in the Cardiac Vascular Care Unit. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the management of patient care utilizing the nursing process to asses, plan, implement, and evaluate patient outcomes. The nurse directs and guides the delivery of nursing care, patient education, and all care related activities, while maintaining standards of professional nursing collaborating with other disciplines as appropriate. The RN may be required to float.

Assists the Laboratory Supervisor in achieving efficient Laboratory operation by performing clinical tests. Supports laboratory testing services by performing specimen collection and processing, quality control and maintenance functions, and results reporting and verification. Participates in training and in-service programs to maintain and upgrade competency at the level required by the Supervisor as procedures are changed or added.

The Certified Nurse Aide provides direct care to residents to include resident hygiene and activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Certified Nurse Aide performs those direct care activities which are allowed to be delegated to unlicensed personnel under the NYS Practice Act, regulations, hospital policies, New York State Long Term Care regulations and standards met by Nursing Services. The Certified Nurse Aide also performs support functions for the unit/department as assigned by the appropriate Registered Nurse and/or manager.
The Student Nurse Extern participates in the planning and implementation of direct and indirect patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Student Nurse Extern will be partnered with an experienced nurse mentor and continue to build on skills needed to integrate into the health care culture. In addition, Student Nurse Externs will be expected to experience hand-off care, inter-professional communication, multidisciplinary rounds, basic documentation, safe administration of medication and other specific roles and responsibilities of a Registered Nurse.
This program is available to SUNY Plattsburgh, Clinton Community College, and North Country senior nursing students.

The Oncology Data Specialist works 100% remote. They perform a variety of functions related to the collection, abstraction, and analysis of oncology data to develop and maintain a comprehensive cancer database in accordance with the New York State Cancer Registry, American College of Surgeons: Commission on Cancer and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital regulations. Assists in other activities of the cancer program in order to maintain hospital accreditation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Under general supervision of the Operations & System Manager, assists in surgical and autopsy pathology as required. Secures and prepares tissue for gross dissection and microscopic examination and study. Candidates who are licensed cytotechnologists will perform cytological examinations to the level of their experience. Candidates who are licensed medical technologists will perform moderately complex and complex testing as required.

Each Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the staff pharmacists in the various functions of the Department, including dispensing and order filling responsibilities, inventory controls, and prepackaging.
During this program, the student nurse will commit to completing their Senior Practicum on a designated floor. Upon successful completion of the Senior Practicum, and after passing the NCLEX and becoming licensed as an RN in the state of New York, the student will transition into a Registered Nurse I role.

Students will receive a $10,000 sign on bonus, paid out in three installments during their first year (1/3 at hire, 1/3 at 6 months, and 1/3 at 1 year). At the completion of two years of continuous employment, in a benefitted position at CVPH in the same department hired into upon graduation, the student will receive an additional $2,500.

The Clinical Assistant will perform various duties under the supervision and/or direction of a Department or Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor depending on area of assignment. The three principal duties of this position are:
Clerical/Patient Registration: Performs; receptionist duties, unit clerk laboratory duties, or patient registration duties; functions as the center of communication for areas assigned.
Technician: Operates an Electrocardiograph machine to record electromotive variations and impulses of the heart for use in the diagnosis of heart disorder
Phlebotomist: Collects blood and other patient samples from Emergency Care Center patient population.
A Clinical Assistant – II functions in all three of the areas listed above and maintains associated competencies. Provides the essential direct link between the patient and testing service both in providing interpersonal contact and technical competence in obtaining appropriate patient samples. Performs other technical skills as trained.

Responsibilities include providing support to ensure daily operations for the laboratory and blood donor center. Expectations include donor program management, personnel management, orientation, goal setting, scheduling, compliance with accreditation agencies which includes; the College of American Pathologists, Food and Drug Administration, Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies, New York State Department of Health, Joint Commission, and Occupational Safety and health Administration. Other responsibilities include budget input, succession planning, teaching, communication, policies and procedure management, cost management, and staff development for the Laboratory and Donor Services.

An LPN/OR Technician/OB Technician (LPN/ORT/OBT) is a member of the WCC team who functions in two areas. He/she is a member of the WCC surgical team who acts as a primary scrub person and must be technically adept by handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary before, during and after the surgical procedure/vaginal delivery. He/she may also circulate under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LPN/ORT/OBT must be able to take call as scheduled, anticipate the needs of the surgeon, have excellent adaptation and coping skills, have excellent organizational skills and be a team-player. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift patient and equipment with assistance of other personnel without as need dictates. LPN/ORT/OBT must have excellent communication skills and maintains asepsis, supplies and inventory at all times. When caring for patients in the LPN capacity, the LPN/ORT/OBT provides direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with the NYS Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and the standards set by Nursing Services and the Nursing Practice Council. The LPN/ORT/OBT may function in both capacities within the same shift—he/she will be assigned to the area that has a higher need during their shift.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Renal Services and IV Therapy, Clinical Coordinator, or staff nurse, the Kidney Dialysis Technician performs various duties to assist in the treatment and care of ESRD patients in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Medical Center. The Dialysis Technician performs those direct care activities which are allowed to be delegated to unlicensed personnel under the NYS Practice Act, regulations, hospital policies, and standards met by Nursing Services. The Kidney Dialysis Technician also performs support functions for the unit/department as assigned by the appropriate Registered Nurse and/or manager. They are responsible to provide support and assistance to the medical and nursing staff to assure a coordinated patient experience. Duties may include, but are not limited to dialyzer reprocessing, obtaining supplies and equipment necessary before, during and after a dialysis procedure, assisting with patient care under the direct supervision of an RN, assisting with station turnover, assisting with a variety of therapeutic interventions, participating in the dialysis care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and cleaning, stocking, and organizing the dialysis treatment area and all support areas. He/She must be reliable, work independently, be highly organized, capable of anticipating where assistance is needed and work well with people. They must meet the unique demands of a fast paced, dialysis environment meeting quality outcomes in an economically viable and customer friendly way.
