R6 is a 24 bed Medical Surgical unit. We have a specialty in Orthopedics, Trauma, and Stroke/Neurology. Included in our 24 beds, we have a 10 bed Joint Care Center, where we cohort our total joint replacement patients – with a beautiful view overlooking Lake Champlain. Because we specialize in caring for shorter stay surgical patients, we tend to have one of the higher discharge/admission rates in our facility. It is not unusual to have a third of the unit discharged daily and have those beds refilled by morning. R6 is staffed with a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio, as well as 3 clinical assistants to care for our 24 patients. At the core of our staff is one of the most senior and experienced teams at CVPH – nearly half of the entire R6 staff has been working on R6 for over 10 years, which brings a wealth of knowledge to share with new staff, whether that be GNs fresh from college or experienced RN that are coming to our team for the first time. We look forward to having you join our team!
